May Day

Tomorrow is May 1st and the office is taking off for a national holiday. We have to work part of the day to help some people that are coming in--we did not know it was a holiday. It got us to thinking that two years ago at this time, we were beginning to talk to the Perpetual Education Fund, and we were going to visit the kids in Orem/Provo/Lindon. Two years ago we had 2 less grandchildren, and two less kids married. Two years ago Michael was getting his papers ready for a mission. A lot has happened for the good in these two years. We feel like the sacrifice that everyone has made so that we can serve a mission demonstrates our gratitude towards our Father in Heaven for these blessings. Mom tries to go to the temple once a week and she invariably still puts various of our children on the temple rolls concerning something that concerns her. I, on the other hand, feel like each of the family is being blessed and will continue to be blessed because each person is trying to be worthy of the blessings that they receive. Two years...a lot of good things have come our way.

Wow. Time really does go so fast. We are so thankful for your example of service. It is a big deal for our children to know that their grandparents are on a mission. You should see Brooklyn's face light up every time she hears "Perpetual Education Fund" in conference. She knows instantly that it has something to do with you. When I asked Zachary who he wanted to speak at his baptism, without even thinking he said "Grandpa Doug!". When I explained that you wouldn't be home from your mission in time for his baptism he was pretty darn sad. Is there a way that you could maybe send a little email to Zac about baptism? Maybe something I could give him on his baptism day? Just to help him feel better. Thanks!

Great post! It is good to remember and acknowledge our blessings. We too have been richly blessed and know that the Lord is aware of us. We hope you continue to do well. The Nelsons
