Every 20 Years

In the fall of 1967, Ray McCrite and I were working in San Martin de Porras in Lima, and the last family we baptized was the Albarracin family at 4000 Jr. San Martin. Elder Wade Noble took over and baptized a couple more in the family.

FAST FORWARD 20 years in 1988 and the story continues. One day I answer the phone in the East Mission Office and there is a young man that wants us to send missionaries to his family. They lived in the North mission so I took the information and sent it. A couple of weeks later he called again and again I happened to answer the phone (instead of the mission secretary). He told me that noone had visited so I again called the North Mission and asked them about it. Between the second and the eventual third call I kept thinking about this call and it made me go back to my mission records that I had brought with me. I found the name of this young man amongst the investigator reports for that area and I realized that I had baptized his father and mother. Fortunately when the North Mission failed to act, Pablo called me again. This time I called the mission president and got permission to go to their house in San Martin de Porras. Jason and I went there in 1989 and we found the rest of the family, in the same house, that had not been baptized by us in 1967-68. An elder from the North mission came and baptized the rest of the family (his name was ELDER DOUGLAS).

FAST FORWARD to 2009 and this week I got an email from Pablo Armando Albarracin Sotomayor. He says that he just found out we are here again. He brought me up to date on the family members (many of which are living in the U.S.) His parents still live at Jr. San Martin 4000. He is now retired from the military and is the Sunday School president of his ward. We are making arrangements to have a dinner with them and take a few fotos. EVERY TWENTY YEARS.

What a wonderful experience. How many times can a person say that! Doesn't it make you wonder what kind of connection you made with these people in the pre-existance!!!

Yes, we are all connected. Am I connected to this story? Was the original baptism due to the help of Felícita Álvarez?

Great story! I love it how the Lord, at times, allows us to taste the sweetness of our service. Hey, I met some lovely people on my plane tonight coming into Spokane. They are Rosemary and Wes Ogzewalla. They spoke so highly of you and your good parents, Doug, and said to say hi. I gave them your blog address, so you might be hearing from them. Happy Mission!!
